COLUMBIA, S.C. – Benedict's
Shun Taylor broke the school record in the long jump, jumping 7.15 meters (23 feet, 5 ½ inches) to finish fourth and was one of several outstanding performances the Tigers had at the USC Indoor Open on Saturday at the South Carolina Indoor Track and Field Complex in their final indoor meet of the season.
Benedict's 4x400-meter relay team finished second with a time of 3:17.08. Benedict's distance medley team won with a time of 11:26.02.
Rajaun Ricketts finished fourth in the triple jump with a jump of 14.83 meters (48 feet, 8 inches), while Taylor finished sixth with a jump of 14.19 meters (46 feet, 6 ¾ inches).
Zach Washington had a personal best jump of 6.57 meters (21 feet, 6 ¾ inches) in the long jump, finishing 11
th.
Makel Bridges finished fourth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 48.68, while
Javel Best finished sixth with a time of 48.84.
Kevin Francis finished fifth in the 60-meter hurdles with a season-best time of 8.35.
Makel Bridges finished 13
th in the men's 200-meter dash with a time of 22.40.
Benedict will open their outdoor schedule on March 16 at the UNC Charlotte 49ers Classic.
