COLUMBIA, S.C. – Benedict College junior middle blocker
Desire' Young has been named to the 2025 Academic All-District® NCAA Division II Women's Volleyball team, selected by College Sports Communicators.
Young was named first team All-SIAC after a stellar season that saw her lead the SIAC in hitting percentage (.351). She also ranked fifth in the SIAC with 0.88 blocks per set and was second in the league with 84 total blocks.
In the classroom, Young has a 3.70 GPA, majoring in Cybersecurity.
Benedict and Spring Hill College were the only SIAC members with representatives on the Academic All-District® squad. A total of 674 student-athletes from Division II were named Academic All-District®. Select student-athletes will advance to the national Academic America® ballot.
To be selected, student-athletes must have a minimum of a 3.5 GPA, be at least a sophomore. On the court, volleyball nominees must nominees must compete in 90 percent of the institution's matches played or must start in at least 66 percent of the institution's matches.
The Division II and III CSC Academic All-America® programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2025-26 Divisions II and III Academic All-America® programs.
