COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Benedict College men's and women's track and field teams won two events at Weems Baskin Invitational at the University of South Carolina's Cregger Track on Saturday.
Chase Ransom won the men's hammer throw with a throw of 51.53 meters (169 feet, 1 inch). He also finished fifth in the discus with a throw of 44.37 meters (145 feet, 7 inches).
Zack Washington finished second in the men's long jump with a mark of 7.44 meters (24 feet, 5 inches). That mark currently ranks fourth in NCAA Division II.
On the women's side,
Jada David won the women's triple jump with a jump of 12.24 meters (40 feet, 2 inches). That mark currently ranks third in NCAA Division II.
Other noteworthy performances include:
Jacobie Sims finished second in the men's 400-meter hurdles with a time of 53.84.
David Epps finished seventh with a time of 1:01.61.

Darian Clarke finished third with a time of 40.95.
Javel Best finished fourth in the men's 200-meter dash with a time of 21.29.
Morris Walker finished fourth in the discus throw with a mark of 44.71 meters (146 feet, 8 inches).
Jacobie Sims finished sixth in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 14.92, while
David Epps advanced to the finals and finished eighth with a time of 15.89.
Darian Clarke finished seventh in the finals of the men's 100-meter dash with a time of 10.62.
Yassmine Chambers tied for second in the women's shot put with a mark of 12.68 meters (41 feet, 7 ¼ inches).
Santiona Freeman finished sixth in the finals of the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.50.
Paris Stanton finished sixth in the hammer throw with a mark of 41.13 meters (134 feet, 11 inches).
The Benedict track teams will compete next Saturday at the Gotta Run Invitational at Southern Wesleyan University in Central, S.C.
