CENTRAL, S.C. – The Benedict College men's and women's outdoor track and field teams had some outstanding performances at the Gotta Run Invitational hosted by Southern Wesleyan University on Saturday, taking eight first places, four seconds, three third, three fourths, and setting one school record and 17 personal records or season best performances.
Men's highlights:
Darian Clarke won the men's 100-meter dash with a time of 10.42, then won the 200-meter dash with a time of 20.77, which currently ranks as the fourth-fastest time in Division II.
Jacobie Sims won the men's 400-meter hurdles with a personal-best time of 54.29.

Zack Washington won the high jump with a jump of 1.95 meters (6 feet, 4 ¾ inches).
Best finished second in the 400 meters with a season-best time of 47.95.
Benedict's 4x100-meter relay team of
David Smith, Paul, Best and Clarke finished second with a season-best time of 40.74.
Chase Ransom finished second in the hammer throw with a personal-record throw of 51.60 meters (169 feet, 3 inches). He also finished third in the discus with a throw of 44.99 meters (147 feet, 7 inches).
Paul finished third in the 400 meters with a time of 48.16.
David Epps finished third in the 110-meter hurdles with a personal-record time of 15.26.
Steven Salley finished third in the triple jump with a mark of 13.58 meters (44 feet, 6 ¾ inches).
Alexander finished fourth in the 200-meter dash with a personal-best time of 21.62.
Smith finished fourth in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.71.
Kelvin Kiprop finished fourth in the 5,000-meter run with a season-best time of 16:56.10.
Women's highlights:
Yassmine Chambers won the discus with a throw of 44.03 meters (144 feet, 5 inches). She also finished fifth in the shot put (11.18 meters, 38 feet, 11 ¾ inches).
Jada David won the triple jump with a jump of 11.94 meters (39 feet, 2 ¼ inches).
Xaria Bascombe finished second in the 100-meter dash with a season-best time of 12.31.
Shantel Williams finished second in the 200-meter dash with a personal-best time of 24.72.
Anaiya Houseal finished second in the high jump with a personal-best jump of 1.60 meters (5 feet, 3 inches).
Daneika Williamson finished second in the shot put with a mark of 11.88 meters (38 feet, 11 ¾ inches). She also finished fifth in the discus with a throw of 37.20 meters (122 feet) and seventh in the hammer throw with a personal-best mark of 40.32 meters (132 feet, 3 inches).
Mercy Kwambai finished fifth in the 5,000-meter run with a season-best time of 22:25.54. She also set a season-best in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 5:31.18.
Paris Stanton finished third in the hammer throw with a school-record throw of 44.80 meters (147 feet).
Torriann Noad finished fourth in the 400 meters with a time of 1:01.68.
Anaiya Houseal finished fourth in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.28.
The Benedict teams will compete at the Gamecock Invitational on April 11.
