LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Benedict College won eight events and had two runners-up at the HBCU National Indoor Track & Field Championships at the Norton Healthcare Sports & Learning Center on Saturday.
 
Jada David set a lifetime best mark in the women's triple jump, jumping 12.25 meters (40 feet, 2 ¼ inches), which is currently the 12^th-best mark in Division II.
 
Yassmine Chambers set a Benedict indoor record in winning the women's weight throw. She threw 14.11 meters (46 feet, 3 ½ inches). She was also the champion in the shot put, with a personal-record mark of 12.71 meters (41 feet, 8 ½ inches).
 
For the men, Chase Ransom won the men's weight throw with a mark of 16.87 meters (55 feet, 4 ¼ inches).
 
Zack Washington won the men's long jump event with a jump of 7.19 meters (23 feet, 7 ¼ inches). Washington also finished fourth in the men's high jump.
 
Darian Clarke won the men's 200-meter dash with a personal-record and Benedict school record time of 21.18. He also finished second in the men's 60-meter dash with a time of 6.77, setting personal and Benedict indoor track records as well.
 
Matthew Paul won the 400-meter run with a Benedict school record time of 48.16. Javel Best finished second with a season-best time of 48.51.
 
Benedict's 4x400-meter relay team of Best, Paul, Terrel Alexander and Jesaiah Jones ran a time of 3:19.25.
