Tigers Fall To Miles

Box Score
FAIRFIELD, AL – The Benedict College Tigers could not overcome a slow start as they lost the rubber match to Miles College 8-2 on Sunday.

Starting pitcher Michael Jordan would go five innings giving up eight runs, but only three earned runs.

Miles jumped out on top in the first inning as they plated three runs. They would add to the lead in the second inning putting up two more runs to make it a 5-0 ballgame. The Tigers would finally get on the board in the top of the fourth inning as Andre Collum started the inning off with a single, stole second, advanced to third on a groundout by Lamar Lewis, and scored on a double off the bat of Lashante Grimes to bring the score to 5-1.

Miles would respond with two runs in the bottom half of the inning, capitalizing on a Benedict error. Robert Jones would score Benedict's only other run of the day in the top of the fifth inning. He led the inning off with a single, David Weber followed with a single of his own, and Jones scored on a RBI by Collum.

The Tigers would try to rally in the top of the ninth inning as they had the bases loaded with one out, but could not score as Collum would strike out and Jordan would get caught attempting to steal home.
