ALBANY, Ga. –
Christopher Moye had three hits and
Lydell Moseby drove in three runs to lead the Benedict College Tigers baseball team to a 12-7 victory over Albany State University on Saturday in the first game of an SIAC doubleheader.
The Golden Rams of Albany State got six RBIs from Patrick Smith in a 17-3 victory over Benedict in the second game.
The Tigers move to 20-12 overall and 10-7 in the SIAC. Albany State is 16-19 overall and 11-6 in the SIAC.
Albany State jumped on Benedict starter
Christopher Lail for a 6-0 lead.
John Walton came on in relief and went the rest of the way, giving up three hits and one run to pick up the win.
The Tigers came back with seven runs in the second inning to take the lead for good.
Andre Collum led off with a double and later came home on a double by
Lamar Lewis.
Elisha McDaniel scored on a groundout by
Kevin Davis. Lewis scored on a wild pitch, and
David Weber followed with an RBI triple. Moye hit an RBI double to score Weber and Moseby hit a two-run home run to left field.
Michael Jordan hit a solo homer in the fifth inning.
In the second game, the Tigers used five pitchers against the Rams, giving up 10 hits and issuing 14 walks.
Albany State broke open a 3-0 game with six runs in the fourth inning and five more in the fifth. The Tigers put three runs on the board in the sixth inning. Weber hit an RBI single,
Lashante Grimes scored on a wild pitch and Moye hit a double to left-center field to score Weber.
Albany State added three more runs in the sixth to close out the scoring.
The two teams will meet again Sunday in the third game of the series at 1 p.m.
