AUGUSTA, GA – The Paine College Lions scored 12 runs in two innings to defeat the Benedict College Tigers 17-2 on Saturday in the rubber match of a three-game series.
The Tigers would start off on top as they scored two runs in the second inning.
Justin Smalls led off the inning with a walk, stole second base, and scored on a RBI by
Lydell Moseby. Moseby would advance to third on a single by
Andre Collum, and score on a RBI single off the bat of Elisha Mcdaniel.
This would be the only bright spot of the day for the Tigers as Paine would put up four in the third inning, seven in the fifth inning, and five in the sixth inning on their way to a 17-2 rout of the Tigers. The game would be called after seven innings of play.
John Walton would take the loss pitching three innings and allowing four runs.
Benedict dropped to 19-10 overall and 9-6 in the SIAC. Paine improved to 20-16 overall and 9-6 in the SIAC. The Tigers play a non-conference game against Edward Waters on Thursday at Capital City Stadium.
