Lady Tigers Swept By Fort Valley State

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Benedict College Lady Tigers mustered just nine hits in two games as Fort Valley State swept a softball doubleheader on Friday.

Fort Valley State won 5-1 in the first game, and then won the second game 9-1.

Benedict fell to 8-25 overall and 6-16 in the SIAC, as the Lady Tigers saw their losing streak stretch to 12 games.

In the first game, Benedict cut the lead to 2-1 with a run in the third inning as Deandra Trottie had a double, then moved to third on a sacrifice bunt by BerGearia Major, then later came home on a wild pitch.

Fort Valley State then scored three runs in the fourth inning to take a 5-1 lead and held on for the win.

In the second game, Fort Valley State took an early 2-0 lead. The Lady Tigers had the bases loaded in the fifth inning with one out, but managed to score just one run when Trottie was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to score Victoria Bratton.

Fort Valley State then added two more runs in the sixth, then put the game away with five runs in the seventh.

Benedict is back in action Saturday, hosting Albany State at 2 p.m.
