COLUMBIA, S.C. – Kadeeja Vaughn scored a season-high 16 points to help lead the Benedict College Lady Tigers to a 74-52 victory over Tuskegee in an SIAC women's basketball game on Thursday night in the Benjamin E. Mays HRC Arena.
The Lady Tigers remained unbeaten in SIAC play, improving to 6-0 in the conference and 11-3 overall. Tuskegee fell to 7-7 overall and 3-2 in the SIAC.
Amanda Toliver added 15 points and a game-high five assists, while
Latoya Fairley had 14 points and a game-high nine rebounds.
Marie McAbee scored a game-high 17 points to lead Tuskegee, while Demetries McNealey added 12 points.
Benedict held Tuskegee to just 31.9 percent shooting. The Lady Tigers dominated on the boards, holding a 44-27 rebounding advantage.
Benedict held a 36-30 lead at the half, but the Lady Tigers used a 12-2 run early in the second half to take a 50-36 lead and maintained the double-digit lead the rest of the way. Tuskegee cut the lead to 62-50 with 3:40 left to play, but Benedict closed out the game with another 12-2 run.
The Lady Tigers take to the road for two games, traveling to face Albany State on Saturday before playing Fort Valley State on Monday. The next home game for the Lady Tigers will be Jan. 27 against Clark Atlanta.
