SAVANNAH, Ga. – The Benedict College women's track & field team competed at the Savannah State Tiger Relays for their first meet of the 2018 outdoor season and came away with some strong performances.
Savionna Glover finished first and jumped a season-best in the triple jump with a mark of 11.14 meters (36 feet, 6 ¾ inches), and finished seventh in the long jump with a season-best leap of 5.08 meters (16 feet, 8 inches).
Kimona Wilson finished ninth in the long jump with a leap of 4.98 meters (16 feet, 4 inches).
Sydnie Anthony finished 10th in the long jump with a leap of 4.96 meters (16 feet, 3 ¼ inches). She also finished 11th overall in the 100 meter dash with a time of 13.14.
The women's distance relay team of
Breasiah Fields,
Sorenya Miller,
Kimona Wilson and
Becky Dionisio finished second with a time of 13:40.95. Dionisio ran the anchor leg and beat out Bethune-Cookman and Albany State in the last lap.
The women's sprint medley team of
Helcy-Ann Sauver,
Phoebe Johnson, Miller and Dionisio finished second with a new school record time of 4:17.15, just finishing behind Bethune-Cookman with another strong anchor leg by Dionisio and a walk leg by Miller.
The women's 4x200 meter relay team of Johnson, Sauver,
Savionna Glover and Miller finished second with a new school record of 1:43.06. Miller ran the anchor leg to close the gap on Bethune-Cookman.
The women's 4x800 meter relay team of
Breasiah Fields,
Princess Hammett, Johnson and Miller finished third with a time of 10:58.40.
The women's 4x400 meter relay team of Johnson, Sauver, Amber Bryant-Brock and
Kimona Wilson finished third with a season-best time of 4:05.78.
The women's 4x100 meter relay team of
Sydnie Anthony, Glover,
Marlena Williams and Maria Melville finished fourth with a time of 50.01.
