ROCK HILL, S.C. – The Benedict College men's track & field team had a very strong showing at the Winthrop University / Adidas Invitational meet over the weekend.
In a crowded field of more than 73 teams competing, including many Division I programs, the Tigers had several noteworthy finishes.
Shemar Miller finished fourth overall in the triple jump with a NCAA Division II provisional qualifying mark of 14.76 meters (48 feet, 5 inches), which currently ranks eighth in NCAA Division II and first in the SIAC. He also jumped 6.76 meters (22 feet, 1 ½ inches) in the long jump to finish 13th.
NaQuan Adams finished fifth overall in the high jump with a jump of 2.00 meters (6 feet, 6 inches). He also jumped a personal best in the long jump with a mark of 6.72 meters (22 feet, ½ inch). He also ran 56.73 in the men's 400-meter hurdles.
Cristian Taylor finished 10th overall in the shot put with a throw of 14.54 meters (47 feet, 8 ½ inches). He is currently ranked No. 1 in the SIAC.Â
Casser Middleton fared well in the hammer throw with a throw of 40.96 meters (134 feet, 5 inches). He is ranked No. 1 in the SIAC. He also recorded a mark of 13.68 meters (44 feet, 10 inches) in the shot put. His discus throw was 37.43 meters (122 feet, 10 inches).
Shemar Hylton finished eighth in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:56.90. He currently ranked sixth in the SIAC.Â
Dennis Kiprono ran a 1:56.88 in the 800-meter run to finish seventh. He is ranked fifth in the SIAC. He also ran a personal-best time of 4:06.72 for a seventh-place finish in the men's 1500-meter run and is ranked third in the SIAC.Â
Kelvin Tillman and
Lirante Jackson each ran 22.00 in men's 200-meter dash. Jackson is ranked second in the SIAC and Tillman is ranked third.
