CLEVELAND, Tenn. – The Benedict College women's outdoor track & field team sent eight representatives to the Lee University Last Chance Meet on Saturday, and three secured spots to the NCAA National Championship.
Jada David won the triple jump event with a personal best jump of 12.54 meters (41 feet, 1 ¾ inches), which moved her up the NCAA ranking to No. 10 in the country and No. 1 in the South Region. Her mark also ranks third all-time in the history of Benedict College. She will be representing Benedict College at the NCAA Championships in Grand Valley, Mich., in two weeks.
Savionna Glover jumped 12.16 meters (39 feet, 10 inches) in the triple jump to finish third. She is currently ranked No. 19 in the NCAA and No. 2 in the South Region. She will also be representing Benedict College at the NCAA Championships in Grand Valley, Mich., in two weeks.
Eilika Lane ran in the 400-meters, finishing fourth with a time of 56.42. She is currently ranked 24th in the NCAA ranking and third in the South Region. She did not compete in the 400-meter hurdles, where is she ranked 15
th in the NCAA and first in the South Region. She will be representing Benedict College at the NCAA Championships in Grand Valley, Mich., in two weeks in the 400-meter hurdles.
Kyra Buffen finished sixth overall in the triple jump with a jump of 11.83 meters (38 feet, 9 inches). She is currently ranked 36th in the NCAA and 7th in the South Region. She also finished sixth in the long Jump with a personal-best jump of 5.75 meters (18 feet, 10 ½ inches). She is currently ranked eighth in the South Region.
Charity Williams ran a personal best in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:02.90. She finished fifth overall and is ranked ninth in the South Region.
Santiona Freeman ran the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.50. She finished eighth overall and is currently ranked second in the South Region.
Kassie Jordan finished eighth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 57.28. She is currently ranked fifth in the South Region.
Shantel Williams ran a personal best time of 12.25 in the 100-meter dash. She finished 14th overall and is ranked 22nd the South Region.
The women's 4x100-meter relay team of Glover, Jordan, Williams and Freeman finished fourth overall with a time of 46.80 and will not advance to the NCAA National Championships.
Two members of the Benedict College men's outdoor track & field team also competed at the Lee University Last Chance Meet on Saturday.
Kevin Francis ran a time of 14.91 in the 110-meter high hurdles to finish 10
th overall. He is currently ranked fourth in the South Region. He also ran the 400-meter hurdles, finishing 11
th overall with a time of 55.67. He is currently ranked sixth in the South Region. Neither time was good enough to advance to the NCAA National Championship.
Lirante Jackson ran a time of 21.44 in the 200-meter dash. He finished eighth overall and is currently ranked seventh in the South Region. His time was not good enough to advance to the NCAA National Championship.
