ATLANTA – A record high 1,474 student-athletes were named to the 2021-22 Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) Commissioner's All-Academic Team for maintaining at least a 3.0 or better cumulative grade point average throughout the 2021-22 academic year.
Benedict had a total of 185 student-athletes named to the Commissioner's All-Academic Team for having a 3.0 GPA or higher.
Student-athletes with a 3.2 or higher were considered for all-academic team honors. The number of student-athletes selected in each sport is determined by the number of positions usually involved in that sport. Benedict had a total of 21 student-athletes named to their respective sport.
Fifty-one students from 13 institutions recorded a 4.0 grade point average.
Benedict College and Kentucky State University led all institutions in this year's All-Academic Honors by capturing four all-academic team awards. The Tigers captured team awards in women's cross country, women's tennis, women's track and field, and softball.
