NEW ORLEANS – Benedict College placed nine players on the 2023 NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field All-Region team, announced by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
Shemar Miller was a two-event honoree, earning All-Region honors in the triple jump and long jump. Miller will compete in the NCAA Division II Indoor National Championship in the triple jump on Saturday. Also earning All-Region honors for the men is freshman
Rajaun Ricketts in the triple jump.
Seven members of the Benedict women's team earned All-Region honors.
Kaciann Cowan and
Santiona Freeman both earned All-Region honors in the 60-meter hurdles event.
Jada David was honored in the triple jump. Benedict's 4x400-meter relay team of
Torianne Noad,
Kassie Jordan,
Megan Thompson and
Kanesha Moses also earned All-Region honors.
The top five individuals in each event from each region earned All-Region distinction, in addition to each member of the region's top three relay teams. The regions used for this award – Atlantic, Central, East, Midwest, South, South Central, Southeast and West – match those used during the cross country season.
