Box Score TUSKEGEE, Ala. – The Benedict Tigers scored nine runs in the fifth inning to help lift them over Tuskegee 18-16 in the third game of their SIAC series on Sunday afternoon.
Jayden Jones hit a pair of home runs and drove in three runs.
Justin Murray went 2-for-3 and drove in three runs.
Amarion Watson went 3-for-4.
Fareed Mizelle drove in two runs with a double and also picked up the pitching win.
Murray drove in two runs in the fourth inning on a single to give Benedict a 4-1 lead. Tuskegee closed the gap to 6-4 in the bottom of the fourth. The Tigers scored nine runs on just four hits in the fifth inning, along with five walks to take a 15-4 lead.
Isaiah Canty and
William Martinez both stole home in the seventh inning to push the lead to 18-5.
Tuskegee pushed across four runs in the seventh and five more in the fifth to cut the lead to 18-14.
The Tigers improve to 13-16 overall and 8-14 in the SIAC. Tuskegee falls to 7-32 overall and 6-20 in the SIAC.
Benedict has a home SIAC series against Spring Hill next weekend, starting with a doubleheader on Saturday at 1 p.m.
