COLUMBIA, S.C. – Two Benedict College baseball players have been selected to participate in the Minority Baseball Prospects All-Star Game, which will be played June 3 at Coolray Field, home of the Triple-A Braves affiliate, Gwinnett Stripers.
 
Outfielder Isaiah Canty and utility player Justin Murray were selected to participate.
 
Canty finished third in the SIAC and 44^th in the nation in slugging percentage (.720), fifth in the SIAC and 57^th in the nation in RBIs per game (1.18) and ninth in the SIAC in runs scored per game (1.12). He also ranked third in the SIAC and ninth in the nation in stolen bases per game (0.82). He was a second-team All-SIAC selection.
 
Murray was a first-team All-SIAC pick as a utility player. Murray ranked second in the SIAC and 24th in Division II in batting average, hitting .418. Murray played first base, second base, third base, and in the outfield for the Tigers this season. He ranked fifth in the SIAC in doubles per game (.38), second in the SIAC in hits per game (1.50), seventh in on-base pct. (.500), sixth in RBIs per game (1.15), 17th in runs per game (1.06), fifth in slugging pct. (.718), and eighth in stolen bases per game (0.62).
 
The All-Star weekend will kick off with a career symposium on June 1. On June 3, the All-Star game starts at 7:15 p.m. Prior to the game, there will be a home run derby and a fastest player competition. The players will also participate in a free youth clinic on June 3 starting at noon.
 
The third annual HBCU All-Star Game will feature the top 50 HBCU talent from D1, D2, NAIA and Junior College levels. This event will include an exciting HBCU Homecoming Tailgate, Vendors, Food Trucks, Entertainment and a Pre-Game Home Run Derby. The game will start at 7:15.
