COLUMBIA, S.C. – Benedict College sophomore infielder
T'yannah Lake has been named the NCAA Division II softball national statistical leader for runs batted in per game for the 2023 season.
Lake recorded 62 RBIs over 45 games for a 1.38 RBIs per game average, edging out Macauley Bailey of Carson-Newman College, who had 67 RBIs over 49 games for a 1.37 RBIs per game average.
Lake will receive a plaque from the NCAA for her accomplishment.
The sophomore second baseman finished the season with a .389 batting with 10 home runs. She drove in a career-high seven runs in a 30-7 Benedict victory. She drove in five runs against Fort Valley State on March 25, thanks to a grand slam.
She was selected to participate in the HBCU All-Star Game, where she was named the game's MVP.
