MACON, Ga. – The Benedict College men's cross country team opened the 2023 season at the Julius Johnson Invitational, where they finished in sixth place out of seven competing teams.
The Tigers picked up 173 points, edging out Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College by four points.
The Tigers were led by
Nelson Kipkemboi, who finished in 27
th place overall with a time of 29:18.98 over the 8K course that will host the SIAC Championship in October.
Sadiki Marsh was 38
th overall with a time of 30:21.53. Freshman
Braylen Brooks finished in 43
rd with a time of 31:17.29 in his collegiate debut.
Javel Best finished in 53
rd place with a time of 33:14.22, while
Quincy Harris finished in 61
st with a time of 37:18.59.
Andy Ferguson finished in 68
th with a time of 55:11.04.
Benedict will compete at the Akiah McMillan Invitational, hosted by Columbia College, on Sept. 30.
