ATLANTA, Ga. – The Benedict College women's track & field team stands in second place after the second day of competition at the 2024 Cricket SIAC Men's and Women's Track and Field Championship, hosted by Morehouse College.
The Lady Tigers have 57 points, trailing Albany State, which has 69 points. Clark Atlanta is in third place with 52 ½ points.
Jada David won the gold medal in the triple jump, with a jump of 11.85 meters (38 feet, 10 ½ inches) on her first attempt.
Elaine Robinson finished seventh with a jump of 11.16 meters (36 feet, 7 ¼ inches).
Santiona Freeman finished second in the heptathlon, scoring 3,937 points.
Kaciann Cowan finished in a tie for fifth place with 3,389 points. Freeman also finished second in the pole vault, clearing 2.3 meters (7 feet, 6 ½ inches).
Jane Kiborus finished fourth in the women's 10,000-meter run, and finished fifth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 14:12.14.
Yassmine Chambers finished second in the shot put, with a mark of 11.99 meters (39 feet, 4 inches). She also finished seventh in the discus with a throw of 34.81 meters (114 feet, 2 inches).
In preliminary heats, Freeman qualified in the 100-meter hurdles with the fastest time of 14.54.
Xaria Bascombe qualified in the 100-meter dash with the second-fastest time of 12.12.
Torriann Noad qualified in the 400-meter dash with a time of 58.05, the sixth-fastest time.
The final day of the track championship will take place on Saturday with finals in 12 events.
