MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Benedict College baseball team took two out of three games in their weekend series against LeMoyne-Owen College.
On Saturday, Benedict won the first game of the series, 18-7. LeMoyne-Owen came back in the second game to take a 3-1 victory. Benedict won the final game of the series 18-4 on Sunday.
Joshua Medina went 3-for-6 with four RBIs in the first game on Saturday.
Kenyan Conner Jr., went 3-for-4 with three RBIs. Benedict jumped out to a 12-0 lead after scoring seven runs in the fifth inning. LeMoyne-Owen scored seven runs in the bottom of the fifth, but the Tigers came back with four runs in the sixth and two more in the eighth.
In the second game, Benedict tied the game at 1-1 with a run in the third inning, but the Magicians regained the lead with two runs in the bottom of the third.
The Benedict bats came alive again on Sunday, pounding out 14 hits and taking a 14-0 lead in the top half of the fifth inning.
Cameron Haley went 4-for-4 with a pair of home runs and drove in eight runs. He had a grand slam in the fourth inning. Medina went 1-for-3 and drove in four runs.
Jonathan Olmedo went 4-for-4 with an RBI.
Benedict improves to 14-9 overall and 12-9 in the SIAC. LeMoyne-Owen falls to 8-21 overall and 4-14 in the SIAC.
The Tigers return to action this weekend with a SIAC home series against Morehouse. Saturday's doubleheader starts at noon at Tiger Field.
