LOUISVILLE, Ky. –
Zack Washington won the HBCU national championship in the men's long jump at the HBCU Indoor Track & Field National Championships in Louisville, Ky., over the weekend at the Norton Healthcare Sports & Learning Center.
Washington, who will compete in the NCAA national championship this Friday, jumped 7.35 meters (24 feet, 1 ½ inch) to break the meet and facility record, and defended his HBCU national championship.

Jaiquez Gibson,
David Smith and
Stephen Judd won the championship in that event with a time of 1:26, which also broke the meet and facility records.
Other top finishers included:
- Yassmine Chambers finished second in the women's weight throw with a mark of 14.71 meters (48 feet, 3 ¼ inches). Chambers also finished third in the women's shot put with a mark of 12.81 meters (42 feet, ½ inch).
- Anaiya Houseal finished second in the women's high jump, clearing 1.55 meters (5 feet, 1 inch).
- Judd finished second in the men's 200-meters with a time of 21.65.
- Jacobie Sims finished third in the men's 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.33.
- DuShaun Tucker finished fourth in the men's shot put with a mark of 14.14 meters (46 feet, 4 ¾ inches). Tucker also finished seventh in the weight throw with a mark of 13.66 meters (44 feet, 9 ¾ inches).
- Smith finished fifth in the men's 60-meter dash with a time of 7.01, while Judd was eighth with a time of 7.15.
- Gabrielle Pinder finished eighth in the women's 60-meter dash with a time of 8.01.
