Tigers, Lady Tigers Have Strong Showing At Electric City Invitational

ANDERSON, S.C. – The Benedict College men's and women's outdoor track and field teams competed in the Electric City Invitational at Anderson University on Friday, and came away with some outstanding results.
 
The men's team finished fifth out of 22 competing teams, while the women's team finished seventh out of 21 teams.
 
DuShaun Tucker won the men's shot put events. He won with a school-record throw of 16.21 meters (53 feet, 2 ¼ inches). Tucker also finished third in the men's javelin throw with a distance of 28.64 meters (93 feet, 11 inches).
 
Other noteworthy performances:
  • Anaiya Houseal won the women's high jump with a height of 1.60 meters (5 feet, 3 inches). Houseal also finished fourth in the women's long jump with a mark of 5.16 meters (16 feet, 11 ¼ inches).
  • Terrel Alexander won the men's 400-meters with a time of 46.80.
  • Jayden Slaughter won the men's long jump with a distance of 6.72 meters (22 feet, ¾ inches).
  • Yassmine Chambers won the women's shot put with a mark of 12.23 meters (40 feet, 1 ½ inch).
  • Benedict's 4x100-meter relay team of Zion Jones, Stephen Judd, Terrel Alexander and David Smith finished second with a time of 41.29.
  • Isabella McKinney finished third in the women's hammer throw with a mark of 40.70 meters (133 feet, 6 inches).
  • Gabrielle Pinder finished fourth in the women's 100-meter dash with a time of 12.11 seconds.
  • Tristen McCleary finished fourth in the men's high jump with a height of 1.85 meters (6 feet, ¾ inches). McCleary also finished seventh in the long jump with a mark of 6.27 meters (20 feet, 7 inches).
  • Karma Moultrie finished fifth in the women's high jump with a jump of 1.50 meters (4 feet, 11 inches).
  • Daniel Moore finished sixth in the men's discus with a mark of 35.44 meters (116 feet, 3 inches).
  • Zack Washington finished sixth in the men's javelin with a throw of 49.86 meters (163 feet, 7 inches).
  • Rahsaan Williams finished seventh in the men's discus with a throw of 35.31 meters (115 feet, 10 inches).
  • Joslynn Moultrie finished seventh in the women's triple jump with a jump of 9.69 meters (31 feet, 9 ½ inches).
  • Steven Salley finished eighth in the men's triple jump with a mark of 12.94 meters (42 feet, 5 ½ inches).
