Benedict's Wooten, Medina, Akins Named All-SIAC

 
 
ATLANTA — The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced its 2026 Baseball All-SIAC teams and individual honorees on Thursday, as voted by the conference's head coaches.
 
Benedict College had three players receive All-Conference honors. Starting pitcher Lefrederick Wooten, first baseman Joshua Medina and outfielder Jaquez Akins were all named to the second team.
 
Wooten ranked fifth in the SIAC in hits allowed per 9 innings (7.54), and fifth in WHIP (1.31). He threw a 9-inning one-hitter vs. Tuskegee and was named the SIAC Pitcher of the Week on April 21.
 
Medina led Benedict in batting at .396, third best in the SIAC. He was also third in the SIAC with 1.03 base on balls per game and led the SIAC in on-base pct. at .557 and RBIs per game (1.45).
 
Akins ranked second in the SIAC and 10th in D2 in on-base percentage (.556). He hit .376, fifth-best in the SIAC, and was fourth in the SIAC with 1.25 RBIs per game. He also led the SIAC with 1.54 runs scored per game.
