TUNICA, Miss. – The Benedict College men's golf team finished first and second in two tournaments hosted by LeMoyne-Owen College at the Tunica National Golf Club.
The Tigers won the Tri-City Classic, shooting a one-round score of 324 to beat conference rivals LeMoyne-Owen, Kentucky State and Paine on March 18.
The next day, Benedict shot a one-round score of 343 to finish second, seven strokes behind LeMoyne-Owen, in the LeMoyne-Owen Spring Invitational, finishing ahead of Morehouse, Kentucky State, and Paine.
In the Tri-City Classic,
Ignacio Espina finished second overall with a 3-over-par 75.
William Edwards and
Sam Smith tied for seventh with an 82.
Marqus Edwards was ninth with an 85.
Caesar Nieto rounded out the scoring with a 102.
In the Tri-City Classic, Espina and Smith each tied for second with a five-over-par 77. Edwards finished tied for 12
th with an 89. Edwards fired a 100 and Nieto shot a 105.
The Tigers will compete at the SIAC Championship, April 16-18 in Atlanta, Ga.
