Zack Washington earned his third All-American award of his career, finishing fifth on Thursday at the 2026 NCAA Division II Outdoor Men's and Women's Track & Field Championship at Welch Stadium in Emporia, Kansas.
Washington jumped 7.45 meters (24 feet, 5 ½ inches) on his opening jump in the competition, and that distance held up for fifth place.
He jumped 7.13 meters (23 feet, 4 ¾ inches) on his second jump, and then recorded a jump of 7.39 meters (24 feet, 3 inches) on his third attempt.
In the finals, Washington fouled on his first attempt, then jumped 6.93 meters (22 feet, 9 inches) and 7.17 meters (23 feet, 6 ¼ inches) on his final two attempts.
Washington finished fifth last year in the outdoor national championship with a jump of 7.61 meters. He finished fifth in this year's indoor national championship with a jump of 7.42 meters.
