Carolyn Bostick (Scott), class of 1993, is a native of St. Helena Island, South Carolina. Carolyn competed for four seasons for the Benedict College track team and was an outstanding 100 meter hurdler, triple jumper and long jumper in the EIAC & District 6 NAIA conferences. She earned All-American honors in the 100 meter hurdles and the triple jump at the national NAIA championship in 1990. She also participated on the 400 meter relay teams that qualified for four consecutive years for the national championship. She was also a member of the team that competed for a NAIA National Championship.

Carolyn won several awards in her four years of competition for the Tigers. She won 2 Paine College Championships in 1989, two EIAC Spring festical Champions in 1992; she won the District 6 NAIA MVP in 1992. She also won the MVP award for Benedict each year she competited. Carolyn won two EIAC MVPs in 1989 and 1992. She was an NAIA All-American from 1990-1992 and she was a recipient of the John E. Brown award in 1992 for the Benedict College Athletic Department.,

After graduating from Benedict College, Carolyn began a successful career in coaching. In 1996 she became the assistant girls Track and Field Coach at Beaufort High School and for the last four years she has been the boys' head coach. Carolyn coached Beaufort High at the South Carolina State Track and Field championship in 2002. She has been a part of 9 Region Championships. In 2007, Carolyn led one student athlete to a State Champion in the 400 meter hurdles and in 2008 she led two State Champion in the shot put and triple jump. Carolyn received a plaque in recognition of her accomplishment from Beaufort County Council. Carolyn received double Masters in Human Resource Management and Computer Information Resources Management. She is currently working as the Software/Homebound Coordinator for Beaufort County School District. Carolyn sells to her students and athletes how Benedict greatly served her educational and extracurricular needs. She encourages them to attend Benedict College, for the college has had a profound impact on her success.,
