As a Benedict athlete from 1938-1942, Colon Garrett rendered herculean service during the era when two-way football was fashinable. He was a tenacious tackler on defence and an exceptionally good blocker and pass receiver on offense. He was a team leader who was always fired-up and ready to go. His exploits earned him All-SIAC honors.
Garrett spent three years in the U.S. Air Force during World War II and worked 30 years with the U.S. Postal Service before retiring. Today he spends considerable time in volunteer work with indigent hospital patients.Â
