Tina Curtis Mason, class of 1992 is a native of Roanoke, Virginia. She competed in four seasons on the Benedict College track team from (1988-1991). Tina was undefeated in the 100m hurdles in Eastern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (EIAC) & District 6 National Athletic Intercollegiate Association competitions. Tina earned three gold medals and one silver medal in the 100m hurdles at the Morehouse Relays. She achieved NAIA All-American honors in 1989, 1990 and 1991. In the NAIA Championship 1991, Tina captured a silver medal in the 100m hurdles.
Tina won several awards and claimed the title of NAIA All-American in three of the four years she competed for Benedict (1989-1991). She was named the John E. Brown Outstanding Student Athlete Award in 1991, the Benedict College Outstanding Sprinter Award in 1988, and the Benedict College Outstanding Hurdles Award in 1991. Tina also competed in Division I athletes and placed second in the 100m hurdle, second place in 400 meter relay, and second place in the mile relay at the Furman College Invitational in 1988. In the Morehouse Relays she placed first in the 100 meter hurdles for three consecutive years. In 1988 she placed first in the 100 meter hurdles.
Tina is currently working at Wachovia Bank for the past eleven years in Virginia. She has been active in the church as an officer and member of the Senior Usher Ministry. She also serves as a member of the Deaconess Ministry. Tina has supported many of the college's activities (homecoming, basketball, and football games) that haven been sponsored throughout the years.
