Allen was a two-sport standout during her career at Benedict, and earned the distinction of becoming the school's first NAIA All-American as well.

Allen was a member of the volleyball and basketball teams starting on each team all four years, and was named All-Conference in both sports. Her volleyball accolades included being named Benedict's Rookie of the Year as a freshman, and Player of the Year. She was named All-Tournament, and had the highest blocking percentage in the region. As a middle blocker and outside hitter, Allen went on to lead the Lady Tigers to EIAC Conference Championships for the 1992, 1993, and 1995 seasons and the EIAC Conference Tournament Championships all four years.
Allen excelled on the basketball court, as well, where she was known for her solid picks to get her teammates open. She was named Benedict's Rookie of the Year, and earned All-Conference and All-District honors. After her sophomore season, she was named Benedict's first NAIA All-American for her outstanding academics. She finished her career with more than 1,000 points and 1,000 rebounds.

Allen graduated with honors in 1996 with a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting. Kim went on to attain a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix and works within the financial services industry, but her love of sports and her desire to teach kids basketball and volleyball led her to become a coach at the middle school and AAU levels for both girls and boys. Her coaching career started in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where she was the head middle school basketball coach at the University School of Milwaukee and assistant coach for the Lady Scholars and Lady Warriors AAU Basketball teams. After Milwaukee, she moved to Charlotte where she currently coaches middle school volleyball at Piedmont IB, middle school basketball at Lake Norman Charter, and AAU basketball for the Carolina Flight. Although Kim has had much success and coached many girls that have gone on to play at the collegiate levels, her greatest joy is to be able to "Pay it forward," providing a child with the same opportunity and guidance that was given to her. Teaching and aligning life skills with sports in order to help young students reach their dreams is a job she proudly accepts.

She has also worked with the Ray of Hope Foundation, which was established by her brother, NBA All-Star Ray Allen. The foundation assists with sports related and community based programs and provides avenues of opportunity for underprivileged youth.

Allen is married to Mr. Ronald Lewis and they are the proud parents of a son, Christopher Lewis and a daughter, Courtney Lewis.
